Posties have been having a tough time of late. The Royal Mail is losing business by the bucketload while ordinary folk are losing out on their important stuff through the letterbox - you know, DVDs, already late birthday cards, credit card spam…

But fear not - because here at Auto Trader we might just have the answer to the country's postal woes. Step forward designer Hugo Plazas - a man who has designed a range of postal trucks for Canada inspired by a Roman deity.

And the almighty he looked to for inspiration? None other than Mercury: Roman god of trade, commerce and inventor of the wheel.

He also happened to own a particularly nifty line of winged shoes which would put most Nike Air Max trainers to shame, and this is what Mr Plazas decided to style his new Post vans on. The winged shoes, not the Nikes.

No word on how the futuristic vans are powered, but judging by the looks, we're thinking big, dirty gas-guzzling V8s.

So build the things, ship 'em over here and watch 'snail mail' become faster than e-mail. We're pretty sure postmen across the country would have more than a giggle driving these bad-boys around. Reckon Pat and his black-and-white cat would fit into one of these?
