"Fire up the Quattro". Without the classic 1980s sportscar, TV's Ashes to Ashes would have been a bit naff. "Spark up the Maxi" doesn't have the same ring.

And it's the same with all TV detective shows – the cars are as much a part of the entertainment as the characters. Imagine Morse in an Evo, or Miami Vice in a Transit. Doesn't quite work, does it?

So to celebrate all that's good about TV 'tec cars, we've pulled together some of the coolest crimefighting cars from the small screen.
